One of American Bank Note's most appealing products was their Archive Series. This was a set of six portfolios with one set released each year from 1987 to 1992. Each set included twelve panels of portraits, vignettes, and counters, with from four to eight on a page. The ink color changed each year, usually matching the color of the portfolio. ABNC selected some of their most striking engravings for the panels and revisited themes like "The Iron Horse," "United States Presidents," and "The Animal Kingdom" multiple times during the series. The 1988 set also included a reprint of a Czechoslovakian banknote, a giveaway item to encourage collectors to subscribe early.

ABNC recognized that collectors regularly handled these panels, and in later years also sold Mylar sleeves to protect them. Of additional value are the information sheets included with each panel. Where possible, ABNC took great pains to identify the engraver, the original banknote company, the approximate year, and numerous examples of what each engraving was used for.
